A new year calls for new discoveries, and once again, Master Blender Nancy Fraley has returned to our oldest cask-strength barrels to uncover two extraordinary single-barrel selections. Each month, Nancy chooses barrels that stand out for their individuality and depth, bottling them at cask strength and offering them exclusively at our distillery in Austin.

Nancy has shaped every beloved Still Austin blend since the debut of our flagship bourbon in 2020. Her finely tuned nose and palate allow her to read a barrel like a story— from where it rested in the rickhouse to the layers of flavor time has revealed. January’s Nancy’s Picks feel like winter comfort, celebration, and surprise all at once.

January Nancy’s Pick: Straight Bourbon Whiskey

• Nose: Scottish short bread cookies, pound cake with white icing, oatmeal cream pie
• Palate: Spice cake with chocolate chips, candied blood orange peels wheels, white cornbread muffins
• Finish: Sweet, with lingering notes of honey butter and cinnamon sticks

January Nancy’s Pick: Straight Rye Whiskey

• Nose: Well balanced, with sweet and sour pomegranate syrup, ice box fruitcake, and oatmeal raisin cheese cake bars
• Palate: Lightly toasted marshmallows, Mexican hot chocolate with whipped cream, Ancho chili brownies
• Finish: Waves of milk chocolate and chipotle chili swirl across the palate

Both selections offer richness and warmth perfect for the cooler months— one with honeyed comfort and baking-spice sweetness, the other with chocolate, chili, and fruit-forward depth. These are whiskies made for slow sipping, sharing with friends, and starting the year with something truly special.
